Welcome to the Workplace Exposure Standard (WES) and Biological Exposure Index (BEI) Stakeholder Consultation for 2019
This year WorkSafe New Zealand is proposing changes to the WES of 34 substances and the BEI of one substance.

Please note that submissions close at 5:00 pm on 7 August 2019. We will not be accepting submissions in any format other than through the online form.
WorkSafe encourages stakeholders to take special note of the comments on the “WES, PES and BEI explained” section that follows the Privacy statement in the above link. These comments provide background information about WES, BEI and also prescribed exposure standards (PES), including what they mean and how they should be used.

Workplace Exposure Standards and Biological Exposure Indices
The 10th edition of the Workplace Exposure Standards and Biological Exposure Indices publication, published in November 2018, is the most recent edition. Changes made to WES and BEI following the 2018 WES Consultation process were published in the 10th edition and are highlighted in the Preface, on page 2 of that publication.
