Technology Transfer Vouchers now up for grabs
The Foundation for Research Science and Technology (FRST) Technology Transfer Vouchers are now available. The vouchers provide 50% funding towards business R&D projects to enable firms to access research services and expertise from accredited research organisations.
The vouchers will be awarded on an on-demand basis to firms with modest in-house R&D capability.

IRL is helping firms with R&D
Industrial Research Ltd (IRL) has been selected as one of six Accredited Research Organisations for the first phase of the Technology Transfer Voucher funding scheme.
Businesses are invited to contact IRL to see whether they qualify for the vouchers and, if so, work with them to develop a research plan for their project and make an application for a voucher.
You can call 0508 225 5475 to talk to an IRL Industry Engagement Account Manager. Vouchers are allocated on a first in first served basis.

IRL invests $19 million in linking science & engineering with NZ firms
BusinessNZ is thrilled about the news that IRL is investing $19 million to foster New Zealand's science and engineering talent.
Initially IRL will offer five Industry Research and Outreach Fellowships for talented scientists and engineers to work with industry to conduct research and technology transfer activities.
The aim behind the initiative is linking world-class science and engineering with the needs of New Zealand firms.

High Tech R&D Showcase at AUT
Seven universities from around NZ are showcasing their high tech R&D to business and industry. Part of a TEC funded programme of events to strengthen ties between universities and business. The latest high tech R&D will be on show at AUT's Wellesley Street Campus Conference Facility in Auckland 5:30pm-8:00pm on Wednesday 9 Feb 2011.

The overall theme of "High-Tech R&D" will have sub-themes including:

Green shoots for manufacturing sector
October's manufacturing activity saw little change from September, as the sector remains fairly static.
However, there are small green shoots in some areas according to the latest monthly BNZ-BusinessNZ Performance of Manufacturing Index (PMI).
